Co-creation of an original fulldome film exploring how camera movements, rhythm and scale shape storytelling and motion that appears natural in a 360-type format.
Role
Co-Founder — Camera, Visual Effects, Compositing and Technical
This is a short film that we developed as part of our Fantastik Obsolete collective. An exercise in camera rhythm, special effects and a singular narrative. The story tells the Traveler’s story through a life cycle depicted across different scenes. Early tests ran through late 2024, production continued across 2025, and the film premiered in 2026 at SAT Fest and Dome Under Film Festival.
My Contribution
I produced the Golden Waterfall and Mirror of Shadows scenes, as well as the final scene with Nicolas Lachance-Brais for the egg modeling and motion.
Development of Niagara visual-effects studies, exploration of the recently implemented motion-design modules and cloners.
Pipeline
Camera setup and movement
Verification in virtual reality from the audience’s point of view
Motion improvements
Visual-effects development
Compositing between After Effects and 3D software
Technical challenges with the sweep animation effect and the liquid around the planet
Performance so we could render without crashing the graphics card (maximum VRAM used)
Technical Challenges
Problem: Watching our own scenes on a 16:9 screen with our viewing habits.
Production solution: Each sequence was reviewed iteratively in virtual reality to evaluate the comfort, acceleration, deceleration and fluidity of spatial movements.
Impact on production: Camera and timing decisions were validated before the final render for the dome, allowing revisions to focus on audience perception rather than technical rigidities. Between metric rigor and shortcuts to complete the visual recipe.
Research & Development
The virtual-reality review served as a production study throughout the film, allowing movement and scale to be evaluated from the inside rather than relying on a static preview.
This process established a common basis for discussing comfort, rhythm and immersion before the final presentation in the dome.
